Big plans are underway to take UYO on tour to Vienna and Bratislava but not before they are immersed in the summer residential course and it is crucial that this unique and challenging experience can exist for future young talented players.

From my first experience as a 14-year-old cellist performing The Planets alongside the Ulster Orchestra in 1997, to performing as piano soloist on a tour of Germany in 2008, the Ulster Youth Orchestra has given me some of my most formative and memorable musical experiences – I am so proud of the success of this wonderful institution that continues to support and inspire generations of talented young musicians.

The high point of every year is the summer residential course when 90 young talented players come together to give unforgettable performances and create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Seeing the transformation in the young people both musically and personally over this period is something that gives our team immense pride and drives us to continue doing what we do. One of our 2017 members describes her experience:

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the best experience of my life so far! The memories of the 10 days I spent with the Ulster Youth Orchestra and the knowledge and confidence I have gained will stay with me forever. It was truly amazing… I feel like I have found my world and I am more determined than ever to pursue a future career as a professional violinist.

As a member of UYO alumni we have been a part of something incredible and I encourage you to help secure this opportunity for future generations of young musicians. On this page you will find information on how you can donate and make a difference.

Thank you for your continued support of the Ulster Youth Orchestra.”
