2018 sees the Ulster Youth Orchestra celebrate its 25th anniversary and big plans are underway to take UYO on tour to Vienna and Bratislava.
The residential course will commence on 14th August 2018 at Greenmount Agricultural College, Antrim followed by a tour to Vienna and Bratislava with the finale concert in the Ulster Hall, Belfast on 25th August. Players will have the opportunity to receive tuition from some of the UK and Ireland’s finest orchestral musicians on rep including Berstein – Overture to Candide, Debussy – Rhpasody for Clarinet and Orchestra featuring UYO alumnus William Curran, Gershwin – An American in Paris, a new commission by Irish composer Ryan Molloy and Harty – Children of Lir featuring renonwed soprana Aoife Miskelly all under the baton of Belfast Born conductor Courtney Lewis.
Applicants can apply either by visiting the how to join section on our website or by picking up an application at their local education area orchestra and returning it by the deadline of 3rd November 2017. Auditions will be held in December 2017.
