The Ulster Orchestra, in partnership with the Ulster Youth Orchestra, is delighted to announce the opening of a professional development programme where music students normally resident in Northern Ireland will audition to join a programme of coaching and mentoring from Ulster Orchestra members.
The Scheme is open to members of the Ulster Youth Orchestra who are (or are about to begin) studying at third level and who are considering careers as professional orchestral musicians. Applications from non-UYO members will also be considered.
Three times during the academic year, successful applicants will come to Belfast to join with the Orchestra in a number of rehearsals and where appropriate, be invited to play in concerts. Travel to Belfast from the student’s usual place of study and any local travel costs will be paid for by the Orchestra.
PES students will receive support and feedback from UO members, develop skills in auditioning, orchestral section playing and also observe and participate in one of the UO’s Learning and Community Engagement projects.
Eligible musicians will be selected by means of competitive audition.
Applications are open now, until Monday 31st July at 1200, by email only to Patrick McCarthy, Director of Operations patrick@ulsterorchestra.com including “UO PES” in the subject field.
Applicants should attach a PDF or Word document, on one side of A4, including:
